FIRST FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Come and spend some time with our Lord who is truly present in the Eucharist. FRIDAY, JULY 3RD after noon Mass through the afternoon with closing Benediction at 3:00pm. Come pray for our nation as we approach Independence Day. Recite your favorite prayers, read the Bible, pray a rosary, or simply sit quietly and keep Him company as you would a dear friend. Spend as little or as much time throughout the day as you like. There is a sign-up sheet in the commons.

Scripture Listening - We are beginning a new devotional practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Volunteers will take turns reading a chapter from the bible. No commentary. No editing. Just scripture read aloud as we prepare to celebrate Mass at 7:00.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

For our Christian Formation program to be successful, we are still looking for parishioners
to share the following ministries: Youth Group Coordinator, Children's Liturgy of the Word Leader, as well as catechists for all grade levels.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION - The meaning of suffering in Scripture, the writings of John Paul II, & your own experience. Wed. evenings after Mass on July 8, 15 & 22; Aug. 5, 12, & 19. A daytime meeting is also possible if there is sufficient interest. Sign-up sheet & flyer available in the commons with more info.

This year our Vacation Bible School, will be held as a four-night event from July 19-22 from 6-8:15 pm, at the Presbyterian Church. Our theme this year is “Camp E.D.G.E: Experience + Discover God Everywhere.” and will include Bible story time with a science component, music, craft and recreation. We plan to serve a kid-friendly supper on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, and a potluck supper/closing program at one of the city parks on Wednesday evening. Intensive Bible Study - Father Ken’s next session on the Gospels will be held on July 11 (Gospel of John) from 9am to noon at St. Mary's in Blacksburg. Additional sessions will be held on July 25 (Pauline letters), and August 1 (Catholic Epistles). If interested, please call the parish office for more details.

JUSTICE & PEACE NEWS:

Elf Shelf: The Radford Elf Shelf provides NEW toys and gifts (jewelry, wallets, books, sporting goods, etc.) at Christmas time for qualifying children ages Birth to 18 years, in Radford. St. Jude supplies volunteers to work at the Elf Shelf and also additional help by collecting NEW toys and Gifts in the Month of June. The price of toys should not exceed $20 and should be delivered to the church.

Fairview Home - We’ve helped make it pretty on the inside, now help make it pretty on the outside by planting flowers & veggies. What to help? Call Jim Hayes (392-4128) ASAP.

MARRIAGE & FAMILY LIFE CONFERENCE
The 2009 diocesan Catholic Marriage & Family Life Conference will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 9am to 3pm at Mary Mother of the Church Abbey in Richmond (12829 River Road, Richmond, VA 23238).
Registration is $15 for an individual, $20 for a couple, and $25 per family. Lunch and child care will be provided. Overnight accommodations are available on Friday evening at the Abbey.

PRO-LIFE PRAYER VIGIL - Each Sat. morning, 10-15 women enter Roanoke’s Planned Parenthood clinic to have their babies aborted. You can gather with other parishioners for a peaceful and prayerful vigil to seek a change of hearts every Sat. from 7am until 10am (or as long as you can stay) in front of Planned Parenthood at 2207 Peters Creek Rd.
